About this product

Ghunzakhi, also spelled Gunzakhi and called Khajoor in Urdu, is a traditional Pashtun homemade sweet: ridged, golden pieces of fried dough. Ours is made at home and freshly prepared for each order, in a 2.5 kg pack. Available in vanaspati ghee, mustard oil or desi ghee, each with or without milk.

What is Ghunzakhi?

Ghunzakhi (also Gunzakhi, Ghwanzakhi, غونزاخی) is known in Urdu as Khajoor. The name refers to the sweet, not the date fruit.

A sweet with a tradition

In Pashtun homes, when a sister or daughter goes back from her parents' home to her in-laws, she takes Ghunzakhi with her. Relatives and neighbours wait for it, and it is shared among them.
