About this product
Shilajit, also spelled salajeet or salajit, is a dark, sticky resin that seeps out of mountain rock. It has been used traditionally across South Asia and the Himalayan region. Desi Nectar sells it as resin in a 20g jar, with a small spoon to measure each portion.
Shilajit price in Pakistan: 10g for Rs 1,200, 20g for Rs 2,499
Our resin comes in two jars: 10g for Rs 1,200 (Rs 120 per gram) and 20g for Rs 2,499 (about Rs 125 per gram). The 10g jar is a good way to try resin for the first time. Our shilajit price per gram guide explains why prices vary between sellers. Shilajit is sold in many pack sizes and forms, so compare the price per gram and the form, not only the price per jar.
What shilajit resin is
Shilajit forms slowly in high mountain rock and seeps out as a thick, dark resin. It is collected and cleaned, then sold as a soft resin. Resin is the traditional form, and it is the only form Desi Nectar sells.
Where it comes from
Our shilajit is sourced from Gilgit-Baltistan, as stated on the listing.
What you get
- Himalayan shilajit resin, 20g jar
- A small measuring spoon in the pack
- Resin form, for stirring into a warm drink
How to take shilajit resin
Take a pea-sized portion, roughly 300 to 500 mg, using the spoon in the pack. Stir it into a cup of warm milk, water or green tea until it dissolves. Use warm liquid, not boiling. Follow the instructions on the pack, and start with a small portion; more is not better.
How long does 20g last?
At roughly 300 to 500 mg per portion, a 20g jar gives about 40 to 65 portions. At one portion a day, that is roughly 40 to 65 days.
Resin, powder, capsules or drops: how to tell the forms apart
- Resin (what we sell): dark brown to black, thick and sticky, like soft tar. It firms up in the cold, softens with the warmth of your fingers, and dissolves in warm liquid, turning it brown.
- Powder: dry and loose, usually lighter brown. It has been dried and ground, so read the label for anything else that has been added.
- Capsules or tablets: powder inside a shell or pressed into a tablet. The label should list every ingredient and the amount per capsule.
- Drops or liquid: shilajit mixed into water or another liquid. The label should say what it is mixed with.
Whatever the form, read the label for what is inside, the net weight and who packed it.
What our resin looks, feels and smells like
- In warm water or milk: it dissolves slowly and should not leave gritty sediment.
- In your fingers: it softens and becomes pliable, and stays sticky rather than crumbling.
- Smell: earthy and slightly smoky. A sweet or burnt-sugar smell is a warning sign.
These are simple home indicators, not a laboratory test. Our guide to checking shilajit at home explains what each check can and cannot tell you, and there are more shilajit guides on our blog.
Storage
Keep the jar tightly closed in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Use a clean, dry spoon each time, and keep the jar out of reach of children. The resin gets firmer in winter and softer in summer; that is normal for resin.
Before you use it
Shilajit is a traditional food product, not a medicine. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or take any medication, consult a doctor before use.
Where it fits
Shilajit sits in our vitamins and supplements category. If you like it in a morning cup, our whole-leaf green tea is a traditional base.
